Checking in with Jason of Team Jacuzzi

Jason Rossiter – One Year Later

Jason

It’s been just over one year since my wife and I became a part of Team Jacuzzi and began incorporating hydrotherapy into the training program for the Las Vegas Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon. One year later, we both continue to cross-train by running, lifting weights and chasing around our two young daughters.   While we don’t plan on running another marathon or half marathon, we have increased our weekly fitness regimen because our bodies continue to recover faster. We feel that the hydrotherapy benefits of the weekly usage of our Jacuzzi® spa have been a big part of this recovery process.

Aside from the hydrotherapy aspect, I continue to use the spa on a personal/social basis with my two daughters. They love the bubbles, disco style lights, and listening to Katie Perry as they turn my relaxing spa into a rave for 4 and 6 year olds! As the fall weather begins to cool, the more my daughters continue to ask to go “jacuzzing”.

Checking in on Team Jacuzzi Member

Nick Pabarcus – Team Jacuzzi

Several months after the TEAM Jacuzzi experience, it has been a great time to circle back and reflect. While I had run several marathons prior to the 2010 Las Vegas race, I had never trained or been associated with a group to share the experience like with TEAM Jacuzzi. The additional motivation was certainly felt as there were tollgates with the video blog and keeping up with the other athletes and their progress drove a bit more training and focus than normal.

For those of you who are familiar with my previous blogs and videos, running has not been a primary exercise and I normally just “bite the bullet” and train a bit for the once-a-year marathon with my longtime friend. The TEAM Jacuzzi experience had me seeing that I can incorporate 10-15 miles a week into my normal exercise routine and have really seen benefits there. I have not entered any more races as it is a moral imperative to only do one per year, but we are looking at the Phoenix Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in January as the next obstacle.

Is Your Cell Phone a Pain in the Neck…Literally?

Hydrotherapy Massage Used to Treat Pain Associated with Mobile Device Use

How many people out there are practically attached to their mobile devices? I admit it, I feel naked without my cell phone. I am constantly making calls, receiving calls, sending texts, checking my email, looking for information on the internet or dabbling with a new app. I get a lot done with my lovely, lovely iPhone. On the days when I log hours staring down at my phone, feverishly accomplishing tasks, I find that I have soreness in the back of my neck.

Have you experienced any pain related to heavy cell phone use? Based on a recent poll we put out to our, the majority of heavy cell phone users experience pain in these areas:

  • Hands, wrists and fingers
  • Neck and shoulders

Cell Phone-itis
With the prevalence of modern technology, our bodies are forced into various motions and positions for which they were not designed. Neck and wrist pain sparked by the use of cell phones is a good example. If you’re a texting fanatic, enjoy talking with friends and family, and use the phone for business, you may be one of thousands of people inflicted with this pain. The good news is that there are some steps you can take to relieve the pain. Relaxing with hydrotherapy massage is one of the best.

10 Minutes to Total Relaxation

The Hot Tub Therapy Habit

Stress is a normal part of life, but without regular relief, day-to-day stress can take a toll on our minds and bodies. While there are effective relaxation techniques known to reduce stress, most of us don’t practice them often enough, if at all. When the signs of stress – tight muscles, pain, inability to concentrate – become chronic, taking time to relax is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.

One of the benefits of owning a Jacuzzi® hot tub is that you can begin to reverse the negative effects of stress and tension in just 10 minutes a day with hot tub therapy. Getting into a regular routine of relaxation is easier when you have a hot tub in your back yard. The soothing heat, muscle stimulation, and buoyancy you experience with hot tub therapy can increase circulation, diminish joint pain and calm frayed nerves – all in just 10 minutes.

Busy Wife, Busy Life!

Assistant Professor, Wife, Mom and Soccer Coach Seeks Stress Relief During Marathon Training

Christie Engesser Cesar, Team Jacuzzi

Profession: Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Therapy, Chapman University

Family: Husband, Ben; Daughters, Malea (age 6) and Naomi (20 months); Son, Avery (age 4)

Reason you are racing: Because I can!

Running history: This will be my first “race” over 5K. My goal is to run at a 7:30 mile pace, with a finishing time of ~1:38.

Now that I have three active kids, a full time job as an assistant professor in a doctoral program and a husband, I am sensitive to the physiological stress that comes with adding a training program to an already busy schedule. I know that for me, using the hot tub is going to give me a regular outlet to take some quiet time for myself.

Outdoor Hot Tubs Promote Quality Family Time

An Outdoor Spa Helps the Family Reconnect

Outdoor hot tubsConsumer research indicates that parents spend real quality time with their kids in their outdoor hot tubs; my family can attest to that. Once you buy an outdoor spa, it may well become a central part of your lifestyle. My family considers our hot tub the central hub of the backyard. Even when we aren’t in the outdoor hot tub, it’s still a beautiful focal point and water feature, especially at night. Outdoor hot tubs often facilitate family entertainment, enjoyment and bonding. The main reason my husband and I considered an outdoor hot tub was for family togetherness. As a full time working mom with three active kids and a full time working husband, I often find it very challenging to spend quality, relaxing time with my family. Between my job, my husband’s job, and the kids’ sports and parties, we are always on the go and don’t make time to enjoy not having anywhere to go or anyone to see. I really do cherish lazy days at home and being able to hang out in the outdoor hot tub with my daughters and husband. Our outdoor spa has provided us many opportunities to regroup, chat, and just enjoy each other’s company without the TV, computer or phone.
